The ultra-compact, dual-output Aviator reinvents a classic SureFire design to provide a primary white LED and secondary colored LED in one sealed head, both focused into a useful beam with ample reach and surround light by a proprietary Total Internal Reflection (TIR) lens. Pull and twist Aviator’s self-locking selector ring to set it to white or colored light, no filter required-there’s even a system-disable setting to prevent accidental activation. The primary LED generates 250 lumens of smooth, intense white light on high and a user-friendly 5 lumens on low. Just press or click the shrouded tailcap switch to activate low output of the selected spectrum at momentary- or constant-on; immediately repeat to activate high output. There are four separate models to choose from, each sporting a different colored secondary LED to help preserve eye fatigue and help get the job done the following ways:

  • Amber improves contrast and does not degrade scotopic or night adapted vision.
  • Blue more clearly defines shapes in the outdoors and helps identify blood and hydraulic fluid.
  • Red improves contrast and aids in reading red-light-readable topographic maps.
  • Yellow-Green is complimentary to the color spectrum used in most cockpits.

  • A lightweight, rugged Mil-Spec hard-anodized aluminum body, gaskets, and O-ring seals protect against the elements, while a sturdy stainless steel clip keeps this indispensable little light securely stowed in your pocket, pack, or-as its aeronautical name suggests-flight bag.

    Features
    • Virtually indestructible white-light and colored LEDs regulated to maximize output and runtime
    • Two output levels—high for maximum light, low for extended runtime
    • TIR lens shapes white or colored light into focused beam with ample reach and surround light for close- to medium-range applications
    • On-the-fly bezel switching between white light, colored light, and disable mode; no filter required
    • Constructed of high-strength aerospace aluminum with Mil-Spec anodizing; stainless steel pocket clip; coated, tempered window
    • Weatherproof—O-ring and gasket sealed
    • Powered by a single energy-dense 123A battery with 10-yearshelf life
    • Backed by SureFire’s No Hassle Guarantee

    Surefire Aviator A2 YG

I have owned the A2 aviator incandescent with Yellow Green led for about 11 years now and there as never been a night watch where I didn't have it with me. I used to be OOW on a passenger ship and we spend a lot of time in the dark. Now I'm a marine pilot and I still spend a lot of time in the dark. For me the Yellow/Green LED at 3 lumens is just the best light there is for maritime duties. Red is OK for night vision but good luck reading a marine map. I also own the A2 Aviator LED in Green version but I don't use is for the job as I believe it is too bright... I use it for camping instead. Most of the time the green LED is plenty for walking in the woods. Coming back to my original A2 incandescent in Yellow/Green, the only trouble I had was the belt clip broke but Surefire customer service sent me another one in Canada, free of charge. I expect another decade of loyal service out of that light.

    New Model - One Battery??

I have A2 Aviator flashlight which was bought about 10 to 15 years ago and is amazingly versatile. I was considering the purchase of another however that older light has been superseded by a newer model which has only one battery instead of the 2 -123A's. It seems to me that giving up 50 percent power capacity to loose one inch in length is a dim (pun intended) idea. This seems especially true since I have carried my Aviator anywhere and everywhere mostly fishing where it has survived a multitude of bashes and splashes. May haps I will find another surefire model that has my preferred characteristics. And to set the record straight if Surefire doesn't make it I won't buy. Thanks for making such good products. Bill H.

    Aviator®

Very reliable, very durable, built like a tank and very tight tolerances. I applied a little 100% pure silicone treadmill spray in the crevice, tail down, and carefully covering the bezel to avoid getting any on the lens, now works like a well-oiled good ol' falshioned American machine! Good value. I bought the Amber and gave that to my family. Now I am buying the AVIATOR-YG for myself. Thank you to SureFire®.
