EP7 Sonic Defenders Ultra protect your hearing without interfering with your ability to hear routine sounds or conversations. Their foam-tipped stem design, featuring soft memory-foam Comply Canal Tips, fits most people and provides a Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) of 28dB. Sounds, at safe levels, are allowed to pass through into the ear canal, while potentially harmful noises (above 85dB) are reduced via a proprietary design that incorporates a special noise-reducing filter. EP7s include attached filter caps, which can be inserted for additional protection and blocking out lower-level noise, like that heard on a plane, in situations where hearing ambient sounds or conversations isn't critical. Right/left color-coded Sonic Defenders Ultra are made from a soft but durable, hypoallergenic polymer that provides all-day comfort and an extended product life (up to 6+ months, depending on usage and care). Their patented EarLock® retention rings lock the earplugs in place, while soft foam-tipped stems provide secure seals in the ear canals. And their low-profile design means they can be worn while wearing a helmet or mask, or while using a phone or headset. Available in clear, black, or orange.

Comfortable EP7 Sonic Defenders Ultra also serve as earpieces for compatible radio communication systems* simply by removing the noise-reducing filter and attaching the earpiece to the system. NOTE: EP7 earpiece will not provide hearing protection if the noise-reducing filter is removed.

EP7s are available in small (S), medium (M), and large (L). Proper size is based on the dimensions of your ear's concha bowl. Size "medium" fits most people; however, to ensure the best possible fit, review the earpiece sizing chart by clicking on the Sizing Chart image. EP7 Sonic Defenders Ultra are sold as a single left/right set or in a box containing 25 sets. Each set is packaged in a convenient carry case and includes a polymer lanyard and an extra set of memory foam Comply Canal Tips; replacements available--see Parts and Accessories on this page.

EP7 Sonic Defenders

These work great. I've worn them at an outdoor range firing pistols and AR's with no problems. The canal tips do a great job of filling in the ear canal so all noise goes through the filters. These are now worn at work. It's great to ear my prep radio on traffic stops. I can also have normal conversations in the car and hear car radios. I'm highly confident that a major problem ever arise (i.e. shootout), my hearing will not suffer.

These are the very first plugs I have had in the past 10 years that fit absolutely perfect! They stay in place and they work! Thank you, SureFire!!

Definitely worth having. Forget you even have them on when under heavy machinery or at the range.

Seems like a good product. Unfortunately, the small size is still too large for my ear canal. Bought two...back to the drawing board.

Great protection and fit

I added EP7s to my EP collection. I have several other but I prefer the maximum noise protection and like to plug the canals fully for competition and keep them open for practice. Great protection and thanks for the extra set of foam plug covers.

New use

After I talked to support and found that the ear piece was stretchable, I was able to remove the central plug and attach ear buds to each side. Now I can ride my jet ski at 45 mph, with the ear buds and shooting ear muffs, and I hear the music perfectly clear and almost no engine or wind noise. What a great improvement.

EP7 product

Took the new EP7's to the gun club last weekend. Product is not satisfactory ear protection on the skeet field. I had to put them aside and use my old hard "headphone" type protection.

My ears thank you!!

Great product. Bought these for skydiving to reduce hearing damage from the plane noise, while climbing to altitude, but still allows me to hear my teammates as we finalize our jump plans and with the plugs out also allows my ears to adjust during descent. Plus at night when the party is still happening at the bonfire I can throw these babies in with the plugs in and nice, quiet silence to snooze to. One warning though, when measuring for your size, if you are on the bubble between two sizes, go with the smaller one. The larger one will feel like your ear is getting stretched out. Best ear plugs I have ever had!!! I bought 2 other sets for my family as well. LOVE, LOVE these!!

Decent with one flaw.

Packaging: this is important because I think cutting my hands open for a $20 product is unnecessary. I think it's redundant to have the ear pros further wrapped in hard plastic when they were already inside outer packaging. Surefire, you could have solved this with putting the ear pros in a reusable, tiny ear bud type case, and wrapped the outer in something non plastic. It's overkill.

Hearing protection: they did a great job here, as I could easily hear a friend talking with the caps out and almost nothing with them snapped in. As far as comfort, they do take some practice and time getting used to. The instructions were helpful, and making sure that the foam portion is rolled down before inserting helps a lot with comfort, as they will expand inside.

Overall, I am pleased but please, just fix the overkill on packaging.

2 stars out of 5 - could be better

for 20 dollars plus shipping these should work much better than they do. I usually wear them in a data center and they work pretty well for blocking out the machine noise of the thousands of servers all running in there at once. I wouldnt say I can hear people talking easily but its much easier than having foam plugs in or over the ear cups. But if I wanted to hunt with these Id never be able to hear a turkey off in the distance or if I was in the military Id never hear a guy sneaking up behind me to knife me in the back while I was looking out over the rooftops for threats.

The big problem comes in when you actually go to the range and theres any one there with a muzzle brake or compensator and its not you. I went to the range last night with mine in and I have to admit even with the plugs in the "noise breakers" it was still painful to be 2 stations away from a guy with an AR15 and a comp.

So they are too quiet when they need to let noise in and too loud when they need to keep noise out when it comes to their intended use... however they are pretty good for working around noisy machines... so thats a plus. I also go the 'flesh' toned ones so people cant tell Im even wearing them most of the time... 2 stars for 2 good points.
