What is the ShotTimer?
The SureFire ShotTimer is an effective, convenient way for shooting enthusiasts, law enforcement officers, and military personnel to improve their shooting skills and monitor their progress. The SureFire ShotTimer displays the elapsed time and the split time for every shot fired, and even allows you to email results for later analysis. Using the start delay option, you can easily train alone or enable the Par Time mode and try to beat the clock. This application is free, for a limited time.
Features:
- Uses iPhone's built-in speaker & mic, earbuds, or a wired headset.
- Results are displayed on one screen, no need to scroll to get your times.
- Email your results for later review, or to establish a training record.
- Par Time mode pits you against the clock and enhances dry-fire training.
- Hold iPhone like a traditional shooting timer or use the start delay mode and place the iPhone in your phone holster, shirt pocket, or shooting bench during use.
How can I test the ShotTimer without shooting?
Tap the 'Adjust Sensitivity' button and slide the sensitivity setting, on the right, to 100%. You can then clap your hands to simulate gunshots. This allows you to become familiar with the operation of the ShotTimer before you get to the range.
How can I make the starting buzzer louder?
First press the 'START' button. While the ShotTimer is running, press the up volume control that is on the upper left edge of your iPhone.
Does the ShotTimer work with the original, first generation iPhones?
The ShotTimer will work on first generation iPhones, but it is highly recommended that you use an external microphone or a wired headset with microphone. Due to hardware limitations, using a first generation iPhone's internal microphone may result in unreliable shot detection.
How can I use the 'Sensitivity Detection' feature?
The ShotTimer has a 'Sensitivity Detection' feature that can be enabled on the 'settings' page to assist you in finding the correct setting. After enabling 'Sensitivity Detection', press the 'START' button and fire several shots. You should not need to adjust the sensitivity unless you change the placement of the ShotTimer, your firing position, change firearms, or change your shooting environment.
The ShotTimer is not detecting all of my shots.
Tap 'Adjust Sensitivity' and raise the sensitivity in 10% increments until the ShotTimer consistently detects all your shots. If you change the position of the ShotTimer (e.g. place it in your pocket), change firearms, or environment (indoor v. outdoor) then you will need to adjust the sensitivity.
The ShotTimer is detecting the shots of other shooters on the range.
Tap 'Adjust Sensitivity' and lower the sensitivity in increments of 10% until the ShotTimer detects only your shots. In some cases, particularly at indoor ranges, you may not be able to find a setting that detects all of your shots and ignores all others.
How can I use the ShotTimer while dry fire training?
On the settings page, set the 'Par Time' setting to the goal time that you are trying to achieve. For example, if you are trying to complete a speed reload in 1 second, set the 'Par Time' to 1.0. When you press START you will hear the starting buzzer, followed by a completion buzzer 1 second later. You may also want to use a 'Start Delay' in conjunction with the par timer.
Can I use a Bluetooth headset with the ShotTimer?
No. Apple does not currently allow applications to utilize the speaker or microphone of Bluetooth connected devices.
