Surefire headlight

I work on bridges I have had the light for 2 weeks. It works great. It just needs a longer battery life. I can get 2 days out it but I only use it about half power.

Light ops

I work outdoors every night of the week all night. I use the headlamp on my hard hat and have no complaints. I use the light for three days before having to recharge it. That is not full power all the time but good enough to see what I'm doing that's for sure. My co worker saw my light and plans on getting one for work, and he plans on using it for hunting also. Great buy, in my eye,s and will look forward to using it each and every night!!

Aerial applicator

Excellent light I use everyday an carry it in my flight suit wouldn't be with out it . The only problem I've had dropped it broke the plastic tab where the head strap attaches to the head piece had my sheet metal man make me a new one an attached it with Velcro as there is no mail service in Cameron Africa I'll have to wait till I finish contract an get to the states to send it in make yourself a top head band an it will be perfect.

Love it but took so long to get...

Love my Maximus, but hated that I had to wait nearly 6 months to get it. It was on backorder. The day I heard mine was coming in I told the dealer to see if they could get me a 2nd one to have as a backup... that was about 4 months ago.... back on the list I went. so now I await my 2nd one.

But about the light, it is great. One hand operation. Illumination goes from as much light as a 1 lumen which is about as useful as a watch backlight to a blinding 500 lumens. AND EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN!

Updated Review

I think it's only fair that I update my earlier review.
After complaining further I spoke one on one to Service management and they apologized that they could not fix it and for the fact that I got another repaired unit. They swapped it out for a brand new unit. Way to go Surefire :) new Invictus UBR is amazing at holding a charge.
Happy camper here.

On the Right Track

I think "SureFire" is on the right track with this headlight. I've been using the "Maximus" every night for over a month. I work in the oil fields of North Dakota and I need a headlight that I can depend upon. So far, the "Maximus" has been durable, reliable, and has worked as advertised. I wear the headlight attached to my hard hat most of the time by using the included headband. The light output on maximum setting enables me to work as though I am in daylight. The ability to recharge the headlight is saving me from the expense and inconvenience of dealing with batteries. I can charge the light in any truck. I will be interested to see if this light will perform in below zero temperatures this winter. So far, so good.

Great product

For me it works best over a hat. It really needs a top strap. I also have the saint, which has the top strap. The shape of the saint fits my forehead better then the Maximus. But as far as brightness, there is no comparison. The Maximus is bright and easy to charge. Can charge it at home or in the truck on the way out to hunt. And most of all, no more batteries to buy or change. OK maybe once a year, we will have to wait and see how long the rechargeables will last. I would recommend this product.

Sent back for repair.... discharging

I sent this 8 month old 'as new' unit back for repair in still in warranty. The battery was not holding a charge. The battery was replaced although I saw no evidence when I used it again because giving a full charge as recommended (unplugged as soon as charged), would not last for more than one week. I tested it for 30 seconds each day....5 seconds on high power and 25 seconds on lowest power. So I send it back again, granted this time on Surefires tab, but only to be replaced with an older and different serial number unit which had obviously seen more wear and tear. I am contacting them again for my properly repaired original unit or a new replacement.

When the unit worked, it worked very well but I do not think I should be the victim of unethical repair practices just because somebody cannot repair an original unit properly in the first place. Jeez, at least give me my nice new unscratched casing back! I have three other Surefire products which I am very happy with, including the new UBR Invictus, but if I do not get this resolved, there will be no more Surefires coming into this house.

The SureFire Maximus rechargeable variable-output LED headlamp delivers an amazing 500 lumens of light—enough to illuminate your entire campsite. If that's too much light, you can dial it down to 1 lumen—or any level in between—for closer work, preserving your dark-adapted vision, or extending the runtime. A large knurled dial permits output control with one hand—even if it's gloved or numbed by cold. One hand can also aim the light right where you want it since the light assembly rotates up and down 90 degrees. The SureFire Maximus utilizes a high-performance LED and a custom reflector to produce a wide, diffused beam optimized for your natural field of vision, but which also provides impressive reach at its max output setting. Power comes from an integral rechargeable lithium-ion battery that can provide years of use; chargers for both wall-type AC outlets and 12-volt DC vehicle accessory outlets are included. A fuel gauge on the headlamp gives battery charge status, and a long-running SOS beacon provides an extra margin of safety if needed. Built from tough, lightweight magnesium, the SureFire Maximus thrives in harsh conditions. It's also comfortable to wear, thanks to its no-chafe fine-weave headband and moisture-wicking Breathe-O-Prene® forehead pad.
