Inspector's Gadget
I'm a Marine Inspector (Chief Warrant Officer 2) in the US Coast Guard, and I conduct safety and security inspections on foreign and domestic ships that operate in the Long Island Sound. Most of my days are spent deep within the bowls of ships with little or no light. The bright beam of my SureFire M2 has helped me identify numerous deficiencies on ships that could've otherwise gone unnoticed.
Thank you for providing an outstanding product that helps keep the maritime public safe and secure.

Penlight Packs Punch
I serve as a fulltime firefighter, and a SureFire M2 Centurion® serves as my on-duty carry light. One night my crew and I responded to a medical call, and the home we were looking for did not have house numbers posted in a conspicuous location. So I rolled down the window of the truck and took out my M2 (with its ultra high-output P61 lamp assembly) and started scanning for house numbers. The other firefighter on my crew said, handing me a bright orange Brand X handheld flashlight, "Put your little penlight away and use this." It weighed about seven pounds, roughly 20 times as much as my little M2. I politely declined, giving him a look that made it clear I knew what I was doing. With the aid of my M2, we found the house. It also came in handy providing the EMS crew with enough light to start an I.V. line.
Upon returning to the station, my crewmate said, "Let me see that little flashlight of yours." I handed it to him, and he turned it on, shining it against the wall. "It's really bright," he admitted. I agreed and was just about to tell him not to look directly into the light, when he turned the light around did just that. He immediately dropped the M2 and put his hands up to his eyes. I said, "You're not going to make fun of my little 'penlight' anymore, are you?"
On our next shift, he approached me and said, "Look what I got"--it was a brand new M2. Now, like me, he is never without his M2 (and I suspect he hasn't looked directly into its beam again, either). Thanks for making such a high-quality product. As a firefighter, I have to trust my equipment, especially illumination tools, and Surefire is the only light I trust enough to carry.

No Cracks Slip through the Cracks
I was a structures mechanic for CH-53 helicopters in the Marine Corps, and most of my time involved inspecting airframes of our aircraft. The Corps provided us with regular two-D-cell flashlights, which were really unsuitable for looking in dark areas.
I eventually bought an M2 Centurion®, which was extremely bright. On several occasions, I discovered hairline cracks below the accessory gearbox mounting structure. The cracks were severe enough to warrant a crew to be sent out from the depot-level maintenance for repair. I was only able to find these cracks because of the intense light of the products your company produces.
I recommend these lights to all of my fellow Marines!

SureFire Keeps on Trucking
We were on a track built for training trucking students on how to park in reverse. After I landed a perfect 45-degree parking in the DOT box, I jumped out of the truck to turn it over to the next student. As I got out, one of the other students pulled me aside and pointed out my M2 Centurion in the dirt. To my amazement, my M2 survived all 38,000 lbs. from each axle running it. The only damage was a few scratches from the rocks. Even the pocket clip survived with only minor damage.
Keep up the terrific work, Surefire. Truck drivers and men and women in the armed forces trust their lives to these perfect illumination tools.

Seven Tons of Rolling Thunder
When I was in Iraq, back in 2003, I bought an M2 Centurion® flashlight, which I took with me to Iraq. When I was in country, I was assistant-driver of a seven-ton truck, and I was messing around with my flashlight, when I
dropped it out the window. I told the driver to stop, that I'd dropped my light. He said, "So, just buy a new one." Then I explained to him that it was a SureFire.
He stopped, and I got out of the truck and looked around on the ground, but I couldn't see it. So I continued to walk back towards where we came from, when I saw the tailcap of the light under the wheel of another 7-ton truck. I
thought my light was a gonner.
The driver backed up and off of my SureFire, and it looked okay, so I picked it up and fired it up. Low and behold, it still worked! And there were only a couple of scratches on it. Man, was I surprised.

SureFire Makes Hard Landing; Refuses to Die
SureFire Makes Hard Landing; Refuses to Die
I am a military helicopter pilot and the one piece of gear I rely on more than any other is my SureFire M2 Millennium® Centurion®. It's brighter, more reliable, and much more durable than anything we are issued.
While conducting flight inspections, I've dropped my light over 20 feet from the top of an aircraft onto a steel flight deck without so much as a flicker. The shock-isolated bezel works as advertised, and the tip-off red filter is easy to turn on/off for white light restrictions at night. I can think of no greater testimony to the quality of your lights than their performance in the harsh environment in which we work: salt air, extreme temperature fluctuations, and punishing helicopter vibrations.
I have a few SureFire lights now because I like them so much. I really don't need them though — my original just won't die! Keep up the great work.
