  • Go for the Gold in a Silver Mine
I recently went on a silver mine exploration in Calico, California, with some buddies. The mines are pitch-black inside, and you need a good flashlight with a good battery. My friends all carry MagLites with three D-cells, as I did—until I bought my 6P Defender®. While exploring the mines, my friends were amazed at how much brighter my 6PD was compared to both of their 3-D-cell lights together. They turned off their lights, and we went with just my little 6PD, and we saw things much clearer and better, making for a much better exploring experience.

My 6PD made believers out of my buddies—now they carry their own SureFire lights.

  • Looters Stopped Cold
Last summer, the area had some major flooding. Unfortunately floods bring out looters, some of the lowest folks on earth, in my opinion. My home sits up on a small hill, so only my crawl space and garage was flooded out. I decided to stick around and watch over my neighbors' houses, which were total losses.

Around 3 a.m. I heard the sound of a 4x4 moving slowly through the water-filled streets. I grabbed my 6P® Defender®, my cell phone, and my .45 and went out to see if they belonged here. Sure enough, they were going into a neighbor's house to see what they could find of worth to loot. I dialed 911 and hit the two of them with my SureFire, right in the eyes. It was so bright they couldn't see who was pointing what at them, so they simply decided to do what I told them, and there was no need for the gun. I held them until the sheriff arrived, and he thanked me for watching over things.

I'm glad I had my SureFire 6P Defender that night. I have three other SureFire lights as well, as they are always dependable and always nice and bright.

  • Guide's Jumbo Light Humbled by SureFire
I was on a boat, paddling on an underground river, exploring a network of caves. The expedition guide had a 12-volt car battery powering a halogen lamp with a six-inch-wide head. I had a Surefire 6P® Defender® (six volts, with a 1.25-inch head). Now, if you do the math, a 12-volt battery is twice the power of six volts, and a 6-inch head should produce a better beam than a 1.25-inch head. But I guess the folks at SureFire use a different kind of math, because my Surefire 6P Defender was easily twice as bright as the 12-volt halogen light the guides were using.

With my SureFire, things we couldn't see with the guides' light all of a sudden became very visible, making their light seem like some kind of kids' toy. I think the guide was discouraged that a little handheld beat his car-battery-powered biggie. In fact, after we got out of the caves, one guide said to another, "I think I need to change my battery." The other guide replied, "But your battery is brand new." If I'd had the chance, I would have told him, "Nothing wrong with your battery-what you need to change is your light...to a SureFire!"
