THE SONIC DEFENDER EP4
I just used this great hearing protection at the Formula One Race in Austin Texas. I sat on the first row in the MG and they worked as advertised!!!! Thank you.

My son does competitive shotgun shooting so adequate ear protection is a requirement for both the athletes and the spectators. I lost my first pair of these on a hunting trip and reordered 2 pairs for both my son and myself. Unlike most ear protection I have tried which is either too bulky or begins to hurt my ears after a period of time, these fit perfectly and are extremely comfortable. It is also very easy to adjust the level of noise suppression depending on how firmly they are inserted. Highly recommended.

Great for work
I work around nine extremely loud giant machines which run 24/7, so hearing protection is a requirement. The foam ear plugs always fall out of my ears and I'm always stopping to put them back in. I bought these and it has made a giant difference. They go in easily and are amazing at keeping the loud noises out but I can still hear my co-workers around me.

After retiring from the military I took a job in a high noise industry. I needed a good set of hearing protection plugs so I tried these. They truly provide excellent hearing protection, fit well and stay exactly where they are supposed to throughout the day. I recently ordered a second pair in the event I ever lose or misplace this pait

No Hearing Protection Provided by EP4.
I measured my ear canals and ordered the recommended Medium according to my ear size, model EP4 (three flange).
After using with a shot gun it was apparent that the hearing protection was minimal. I tested these, and I was right they offer Practically No Hearing Protection (ie. <<15dB!!!), either with or without the removable ports blocked! This is after repeated installations and attempts to get a good seal.
Test your hearing protection here, to see if they offer at least 15dB:
These EP4 are not recommended. Maybe this is why no one this product in Western Canada. I feel sorry for the people that use these in the military/police, and think that they are getting the protection they need, unless this protection is actually tested after installation in a proper testing environment.

Won't stay in
I have tried to wear these on a couple occasions and they simply won't stay in my ears. When I repeatedly push them in they work very well. But they slip out constantly.

Ep4 at work.
I work for a train company doing high pressure brake air test so the danger of hearing loss is great. I also need to be able to hear people around me as well as cars coming in and out of the shop, so regular ear plugs don't always work. These take a little getting used to cause of the locking ring, but they work great. I can hear everything around me, but if someone's using some load equipment or a valve opens up, I'm not deafened or possibly getting hearing damage. I ordered two pairs, one for work and one for the shooting range, and again I'm impressed with the function. I've even got guys I work with that are using them now.

These are absolutely HORRIBLE for shooting
After seeing these at a local gun store I thought I would give them a try because I hate the big ear protection that I currently use when on the range. I put these in my ears (yes they were installed correctly), went into the range and got setup to shoot. I was on the very end stall with the nearest shooter 3 stalls down shooting an AR-15. After about 30 rounds through one of my guns and about the same from the AR, I had to leave the range because it was starting to become painful. I took the earplugs out and I could hardly hear a thing. I put my headset on and went back to range and all was good but when I left and was driving home I literally could not hear my radio at a normal level so I just turned it off. I am a little better this morning but not even close to 100% full hearing. I have already thrown these in the trash and I will tell everybody I know that shoots not to even consider these because they are complete junk. I just hope my hearing comes back very soon and that there is no permanent damage.

EP4 Sonic Defeders Plus 3 Flange
I received the earplugs the day before I left for Nationals in Camp Perry, Ohio. They do take some time to put in but once in they work amazingly. I could hear others talking perfectly; while shooting I was never bothered by the rifle. These earplugs work especially well when you close the extra seal. Thank you for a cheap yet effective product. I am telling all my teammates about them.

EP4 Sonic Defenders Plus - Comfort and Effectivness
I recieved my EP4s a few weeks ago. I ride a motorcycle and needed earplugs that protected (from wind and road noise plus my loud pipes) and fit better than the general foam plugs I'd been using. I ordered both the medium and small version of the EP4s because I wasn't sure what size would fit best. I was always stuffing in the foam plugs so I was guessing I might have a smaller ear canal. What I found was the mediums were perfect and the small really looks like something a kid might use. The EP4s have worked really well so far. The medium size fits nicely in my ear and I don't notice them or get any aches while wearing them with a full face helmet, even after several hours of riding. These really improve my overall riding experience. My ears don't ring after long rides and I don't feel there has been any loss in safety from wearing them. I will continue wearing these and would order again as replacements are needed.

EP4 Sonic Defenders® Plus protect your hearing without interfering with your ability to hear routine sounds or conversations. Their triple-flanged stem design fits larger ear canals and provides a Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) of 24dB. Sounds, at safe levels, are allowed to pass through into the ear canal, while potentially harmful noises (above 85dB) are reduced via a proprietary design that incorporates a special noise-reducing filter. EP4s include attached filter caps, which can be inserted for additional protection and blocking out lower-level noise, like that heard on a plane, where hearing ambient sounds or conversations isn't critical. Right/left color-coded Sonic Defenders Plus are made from a soft but durable, hypoallergenic polymer that provides all-day comfort and an extended product life (up to 6+ months, depending on usage and care). Their patented EarLock® retention rings lock the earplugs in place, while soft, adjustable triple-flanged stems provide secure seals in the ear canals. A low-profile design means EP4s can be worn while wearing a helmet or mask, or while using a phone or headset. Available in clear, black, or orange.
Comfortable EP4 Sonic Defenders Plus also serve as earpieces for compatible radio communication systems* simply by removing the noise-reducing filter and attaching the earpiece to the system. NOTE: EP4 earpiece no longer provides hearing protection once the noise-reducing filter has been removed.
EP4s are available in small (S), medium (M), and large (L). Proper size is based on the dimensions of your ear's concha bowl. Size "medium" fits most people. For those with smaller (in diameter) ear canals, the two-flange stem of our EP3 Sonic Defenders may provide a better fit than the EP4's three-flange stem.

EP4 Sonic Defenders Plus are sold as a single left/right set or in a box containing 25 sets. Each set is packaged in a convenient carry case and includes a polymer lanyard.
