Working in this field with high frequencies the EP3 Sonic Defenders help reduce the sound and I still have the ability to communicate with my patient.

I have tried many hearing protectors for shotgun sports, and have found these to be the best yet !!

Awesome for noise control
A friend urged me to try them and I really like them. I used them around molding machines and grinders. These really like he way they fit and control the noise. Even had some people where I work purchase these also.

Uncomfortable, and no better than foam plugs for me. Tried to use them, but went back to the ear covering "muffs".

By far the best option when it comes to comfort as well as blocking out sound while shooting indoors and outdoors.

I guess i must have been using them wrong, I didn't think they worked better than foam plugs. I couldn't get them in deep enough to block the sound, and I had a hard time keeping them in. The picture shows them as big, but in reality they were small for me to hold on to. Maybe I'm missing something but they didn't work for me. I stopped using them because 1 fell out and I didn't know till I went to remove them. So I tried it with the 1 and a foam one in the other ear. The foam was better.

I find they are a little uncomfortable in my ears but they work great.

Ringing in the ears...
Don't expect these to block out all of the sound. If you are shooting at a poorly designed range with concrete shooting stalls and lots of steel beams you'd need something more. I recently experienced temporary loss of hearing while shooting 10 rounds of 12G 00Buckshot. I've also had some ringing in my ears since then.
I've been to countless machinegun ranges and small arms ranges using generic foam ear plugs. This has never happened using foam. I'm going back to the basics.

EP3 Sonic Defenders protect your hearing without interfering with your ability to hear routine sounds or conversations. Their double-flanged-stem design fits most people and provides a Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) of 24dB. Sounds, at safe levels, are allowed to pass through into the ear canal, while potentially harmful noises (above 85dB) are reduced via a proprietary design that incorporates a special noise-reducing filter. EP3s include attached filter caps, which can be inserted for additional protection and blocking out lower-level noise, like that heard on a plane, where hearing ambient sounds or conversations isn't critical. Right/left color-coded Sonic Defenders are made from a soft but durable, hypoallergenic polymer that provides all-day comfort and an extended product life (up to 6+ months, depending on usage and care). Their patented EarLock® retention rings lock the earplugs in place, while soft, adjustable double-flanged stems provide secure seals in the ear canals. A low-profile design means EP3s can be worn while wearing a helmet or mask, or while using a phone or headset. Available in clear, black, or orange.
Comfortable EP3 Sonic Defenders also serve as earpieces for SureFire™ Hearing Protection and other compatible radio communication systems* simply by removing the noise-reducing filter and attaching the earpiece to the system. NOTE: EP3 earpiece will not provide hearing protection if the noise-reducing filter is removed.
EP3s are available in small (S), medium (M), and large (L). Proper size is based on the dimensions of your ear's concha bowl. Size "medium" fits most people; however, to ensure the best possible fit, click on the Sizing Chart thumbnail image above or download detailed specifications here to also view the sizing chart on page 4. For those with larger (in diameter) ear canals, the three-flange stem of our EP4 Sonic Defenders may provide a better fit than the EP3's two-flange stem.
EP3 Sonic Defenders are sold as a single left/right set or in a box containing 25 sets. Each set is packaged in a convenient carry case and includes a polymer lanyard.
