Fleeing Felon Found Up A Tree
On a cold, mid-January night in Chicago, a suspect wanted for multiple felonies was last seen fleeing into a forested section on the outskirts of the city. The section was quickly cordoned off and searched by approximately 20 officers, two K-9 units, and a helicopter equipped with thermal imaging and night vision equipment. The search went on for approximately an hour, with no results. Even the helicopter was unable to observe anything but an occasional bounding whitetail deer.

Three other detectives and I arrived on scene just as the search was being called off. Equipped with my SureFire L5, we walked about 30 feet into the forest and, behold, there he was, lit up like a Christmas tree. The suspect had climbed approximately 15 feet up a tree and was hanging there, half frozen. The search was over. My L5 had illuminated in five minutes what all the others could not in 60. Shortly after that incident, about 20 of my co-workers purchased L5s or other SureFire lights.

Thanks, SureFire.
